Turn Our Faces

Make firm our steps O Lord in Thy path

Strengthen our hearts in Thine obedience

Adorn our bodies with the robe of Thy bounty

And remove from our eyes the veil of sinfulness

The FIRE TABLET

Were it not for the cold, how would the heat of Thy words prevail, O Expounder of the worlds?

Were it not for calamity, how would the sun of Thy patience shine, O Light of the worlds?

Lament not because of the wicked. Thou wert created to bear and endure, O Patience of the worlds.

How sweet was Thy dawning on the horizon of the Covenant among the stirrers of sedition, and Thy yearning after God, O Love of the worlds.

The Sufficing, The Healing, The Abiding

Based on the Long Healing Prayer

Alláh'u'Abhá

The meditation Alláh'u'Abhá, God is the All-Glorious, chanted ninety-five times.

See with your own eyes

Kindle the fire of love, and burn away all things.

Set thy foot in the land of the lovers.

How can a curtain part the lover and the loved one?

In thy soul of love build thou a fire.

And burn away all things.

All thoughts and words entire.

Our Story Is One

The campaign for the 10 Women of Shiraz

Shiraz, Iran, 18 June 1983

After months of imprisonment and torture, ten Baháʼí women are executed by hanging for no reason other than their refusal to renounce their religion: a religion that counts amongst its causes the equality of women, justice and truthfulness.

Those murdered that day were:

  • Mona Mahmoudnejad, 17;
  • Roya Eshraghi, 23, executed along with her mother;
  • Simin Saberi, 24;
  • Shahin Dalvand, 25;
  • Akhtar Sabet, 25;
  • Mahshid Niroumand, 28;
  • Zarrin Moghimi-Abyaneh, 29;
  • Tahereh Arjomandi Siyavashi, 30. Her husband, Jamshid Siavashi, was executed two days earlier;
  • Nosrat Ghufrani Yaldaie, 46. Her son, Bahram Yaldaie, was executed two days earlier;
  • Ezzat-Janami Eshraghi, 57, along with her daughter Roya, 23. Her husband, Enayatullah Eshraghi was executed two days earlier.

Many more were murdered in the weeks before and after. The persecution, imprisonments and discrimination of the peaceful Iranian Baháʼí community has changed in form but continues to this day.

This song is our tribute to the heroic martyrs of Shiraz, and all the women of all faiths and none who continue to suffer in an environment of gender apartheid in Iran.
